Ixworth Chicken

The Ixworth is a rare breed chicken breed on the RBST’s watchlist. The variety was developed by Sir Reginald Appleyard in the 1930s at this site near Ixworth, Suffolk.

Ixworth chickens are a dual-purpose breed with great qualities making them an ideal heritage breed to keep. Though slow growing, hens offer upwards of 250 eggs per year and the birds are large enough to provide a substantial meal.

Please note, these are hatching eggs. Though we regularly conduct fertility tests, I must stress that we cannot guarantee hatching success. If you would prefer to pick your eggs up in person, please message me before purchase. We are based in Suffolk, UK.

Shipping is within the UK ONLY. Eggs are sent via Royal Mail recorded delivery and you will be provided with a tracking number. Eggs are only shipping Monday - Wednesday to avoid packages getting stuck in sorting offices over the weekend.
